he Nikolaevsky Palace constructed in the middle of XVIII cent. originally served as a residence of Emperor Nicolas I’s son, Grand Duke Nicolas. Today the classic building preserving the memory of the city history has been carefully restored and regularly serves as venue for bright folklore shows that enjoy immense popularity both with locals and tourists.
The musicians of the Russian folk ensembles play traditional accordion, balalaika as well as some rare and even exotic musical instruments. Lyrical dances of the Russian North will let you feel the mysterious Russian soul, stirring dances and songs of the Cossacks will amaze you. You’ll hear the folk music of different nationalities of Russia. The national color of the performance is enriched with the bright dresses made in accordance with Russian traditions.
Divided into two parts the show lasts for about two hours. In the intermission Russian snacks and beverages (canapes with caviar, ham, smoked sausage, cheese, fruit, strong and soft drinks) are served. In the interval the guests are also welcome to listen to classical music performed by a string quartette and buy various Russian souvenirs.
