After a 27-km drive through the suburbs of St. Petersburg you’ll reach Pavlovsk, a former summer residence of the Russian tsars in the 18th-19th centuries.
Take an exciting tour of the marvellous palace with its classical interiors giving you a unique opportunity to see the works of the most influential architects of the period. The interior decor blends well with the magnificent objects of decorative and applied art, such as vases of semiprecious stones from the Urals and Altai mountains, ornamental metalwork, porcelain, colored glass, ivory, amber and many other objects fashioned by skilled craftsmen. After the end of the World War II the palace was restored, and today it is the only completely restored palace in the suburbs of St.Petersburg. All 45 rooms, which were open to the public before the war, are open nowadays.
Having a walk in the picturesque landscape park, one of the largest in Europe, with small classical pavilions and marble statues, you are sure to feel why Emperor Pavel has chosen this place as an official summer residence for his family!
